A Learning Thermostat, Ipod Sexy

What’s that one device in your house that just hasn’t been cool enough to receive some high tech love? That’s right, your little micro environment keeper; the thermostat. Hanging out unobtrusively on the wall this little command center was in a desperate need of a facelift for the iphone generation.

Smart design with an easy to use interface is sure to add a little tech glamour to the walls. An outer ring adjusts the temperature where as pushing on the face will open the menu. The color changing face gives an instant indication to what action the thermostat is taking, red for heat and blue for cooling.

How does this thing learn? Using a series of sensor, cloud computing, and algorithms, Nest learns your behavior and preferences and adjusts according. Taking a week to learn the habits of the user, it will automatically develop programs for heating and cooling. It’s so smart it’ll suggest tips for becoming more energy-efficient.

Other cool features of the Nest thermostat is the ability to access it remotely, either online or through and app on your smartphone.  Auto-Away™ feature uses sensors to detect when you aren’t home and adjusts the temperature automatically.  Apparently if you can install a light in your house you can just as easily install this little device. Pricing has been set at $249 U.S. and can be purchased from Nest.com
